Philosophy

Hath yoga is an ancient technique that has been recorded by various Indian yogis. The yogis passed it on to us so that we could practice it and lead a more meaningful life. Today in the post industrialization era where gaining material comforts has become easy, one tends to thinks of more philosophical questions like; Who am I ? Where do I go? Is there life beyond death? And many more. These philosophical questions deviates one from his/her goals in life. Spirituality is required in life, but not at the cost of being a hermit, gone are the days where the society looked up at hermits and worshiped them. Today one is expected to have a professionally sound along with which spirituality can be practiced in order to make perfect balance in the professional as well as personal domain. Today one cannot afford to lose interest in the material goals which are equally important for a householder. Not only the philosophical questions but the mental and the physical health affect once performance at a work place.

In a metropolis like Mumbai most of us travel long a distance to reach the work place, which takes a toll on person efficiency to perform. In order to make every person able to function stably with efficiency at any given point in time, he/she may undertake yoga practice. Yoga belongs to no religion or creed; it is an ancient technique which belongs to all of the mankind, everyone must make use of it in whatever they are doing. Research suggests that stress at work place gives rise to a negative competitive spirit amongst the employees which causes damage to the larger system which in turn reduces performance of the team. Emotions like jealousy, anger, greed, etc. may take over the employees and in turn reduce personal efficiency; research provides enough evidence for the same.

In order to prevent the said concerns, one must take resort to yoga. It is not only yoga that can take one out of the above concerns. Yoga is an ancient Indian culture. The word Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word means union; Union of mind and body, Union of individual self and universal self, Patanjali gives definition of yoga as yogah cittavritti nirodhah in sutra 1.2. Citta is consciousness which is made up of mind, intellect and ego. Yoga is defined as restraint of fluctuations in consciousness. Yoga is an integrated holistic system of self culture. Yoga is a science and whose practices have strong scientific basis open to suitable laboratory tests. It embraces anatomy, physiology, neurology, psychology. The mission of yogatantra is to spread yoga across all socio-economic classes. We teach yoga free of cost to the vulnerable sections of the society who need it more than the elite class like us. It is challenging to preach yoga to a person who has nothing in his/her stomach. Ironically it is most required for such section so that they may be in a in a position to perform well and improve their status. Poverty can be eliminated if this particular section of our society practices yoga, which will in turn get them out of health ailments, addictions and many other issues those add up to the vicious circle of the poverty. Our vision is to try and eliminate poverty in the human society and promote wellbeing of people through Hath yoga.
