Learn to breath

One day’ in the Yoga Studio, a new student, Rashmi was sitting before me. I was observing her breath and noticed that she was unable to breath deep. I told her, “You are not breathing properly”. She said, “But Ma’am, I am alive!! That means I breathe.” “Yes, you Breathe, however you are breathing very shallow” she was unable to take deep breath.

Breathing is synonymous to life in the common understating, however what we forget is ‘Right Breathing is synonymous to Good and Healthy Life’. In the fast pace of life we have forgotten many small and beautiful things, one of which is breathing right. It has been observed that some people are very sensitive and observant who understand that their breath are not complete or are not satisfied when they breathe deep. It means Lungs are unable to accommodate sufficient air, disturbing the oxygen supply to the body. Sometimes we experience that after a stressful period of time we just take a deep breath and we realize that we are lacking energy, but when this situation continues repeatedly ones breath becomes very shallow and that becomes a practice. Very often it has been observed that the busy scheduled and stressed out people do not breathe completely but they breathe shallow and fast.

We know, one can survive without food for a month or may be more, one can also survive without water for few days, but without oxygen? However, can any one survive even for 2 minutes without breathe? Imagine what will happen to our body when we are not taking oxygen properly. Body is such a miraculous that it survives and adjusts itself with many situations. With less oxygen body gets number of issues which one doesn’t understand. Hence, the conclusion, it is very significant to learn proper breathing techniques.

In ancient times Hatha yoga was practiced for many years as a preparation for higher states of consciousness. Today, however real purpose of this great science has been forgotten altogether. The Hatha yoga practices designed by the Rishis and Sages for evolution of mankind are now being understood and utilized in a very limited sense. Hatha yoga is a very important practice for the humanity today. ‘YOGATANTRA’ teaches first “learn to breathe correct and then further learn different breathing techniques, which helps one to stay healthy and grow spiritually.
